Language Proficiency Requirements (LPR)

As was announced previously, ICAEA wishes its events and website to act as a forum for some of the exemplary work which is going on in aviation English around the world. Often, this work is unknown outside national or regional borders and yet could be stimulating for the aviation community as a whole.
We should like to be able to publish articles, summaries and presentations in two main areas:
- Academic research into various areas in which the English language is used in aviation; and
- Different national plans for implementing the ICAO Language Proficiency Requirements.
While ICAEA endeavours to take every precaution to post on its website only information which appears relevant to the promotion and a better understanding of language standards in aviation, it disclaims any responsibility for the opinions and information provided by the authors of the documents posted.
ICAO has kindly authorized us to place a draft version of Circular 318-AN/180, 'Language Testing Criteria for Global Harmonization', on the ICAEA website. As is clearly stated in the disclaimer, this is a draft version which may be subject to modifications before its definitive publication.
However, we felt that it would be of value for our members to be able to consult this long-awaited document designed to promote clarity and good practice in language testing in the context of the implementation of the Language Proficiency Requirements.'
